GNSHOF Board of Directors

The Greater Niagara Sports Hall of Fame—formerly the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame—recognizes members of the Greater Niagara area who have contributed to the community through sports as athletes, coaches, managers, organizers, sponsors, and volunteers. We honor the sports heroes of LaSalle, Niagara Falls, Niagara Wheatfield, Lewiston Porter, Trott, and Bishop Duffy-Niagara Catholic.

Our History

Harold Quinn and Pep DiRamio Founded the Niagara Falls’ Old Timers Sports Hall of Fame in 1968. Eligible recipients must be 55 years of age old or older to be considered for induction.

In 1975 the Pep DiRamio Award was established to recognize service to our program.

In 1991 John Laurendi and Tony Quaranto resurrected the Hall after had been discontinued. It has since continued without interruption.

The group has changed names twice since its inception. In 2011 the name was changed to The Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame. In 2024, it was changed to The Greater Niagara Sports Hall of Fame. The reason for the recent change was to change the perception that we only honored athletes from Niagara Falls. Our bylaws always included Niagara Wheatfield and Lewiston Porter in our territory, but the name didn’t reflect this.

The Greater Niagara Sports Hall of Fame honors members of the community who have contributed to our area through their sports activities as outstanding athletes, coaches, managers, organizers, sponsors and volunteers.

This year’s Induction Ceremony will be held at our new home, Antonio’s Banquet & Conference Center / 7708 Niagara Falls Blvd / Niagara Falls, NY 14304 (Located in The Quality Inn). 716 283 7444.
